Are you a student in Ghent? Do you want to make moving through the city more enjoyable with tangible solutions and prototypes, while learning a lot in the process? Then you're the person we're looking for!

What and when?

From Tuesday, April 2, to Friday, April 5, Comon is organizing a Make-a-ton for students. During such a Make-a-ton, interdisciplinary student teams are immersed in the innovation process around a social challenge for 3.5 days. This time, that challenge is 'How can we make moving through the city more enjoyable?' Under the guidance of expert coaches and mentors, the teams work together intensively on prototypes of tangible solutions.

Your cup of tea?

Sound challenging? Don't worry! We coach all participants through this process from A to Z. We welcome students from all years, programs, and backgrounds – as long as you’re up for thinking creatively and out-of-the-box and rolling up your sleeves.

Also great for doctoral students

We also welcome doctoral students. Even more, the Doctoral School recognizes the Comon Make-a-Ton as a Transferable Skills seminar (cluster research and valorization) in the Ghent University doctoral programme.

Why participate?

  • You will meet like-minded, enthusiastic people from other disciplines and fields.
  • You can freely experiment in a safe environment, without examination.
  • You will be coached by experts from various disciplines.
  • You will attend workshops on design thinking, rapid prototyping, pitching, and value proposition.
  • You will learn to work with 3D printers, laser cutters, and other maker tools.

  • You will use your knowledge and creativity to create societal impact.
  • You will enrich your resume, as each prototype gets its own webpage that you can refer to.
