Clone of Experiment café & closing event 'Moving Enjoyable'
The Experiment café was the perfect place to wrap up the Comon 'Moving Enjoyable' project in style. During this event, two innovative solutions were presented: UrbanCubby and RevOnc. Visitors had the chance to try out these inventions, talk to the creators, and celebrate the end of the project together with drinks and snacks.
Moving after cancer with RevOnc
During the Experiment café, visitors were introduced to RevOnc — an app designed to support people with a cancer experience in staying active after their hospital treatment ends. The app connects peers, offering motivation and support during difficult moments or when they risk falling into a dark place. Visitors had the opportunity to explore the concept and share their feedback with the development team.
UrbanCubby tested for the first time: smart lockers with sports and play equipment
UrbanCubby was also presented during the Experiment Café — an innovative sharing platform that makes sports and play equipment accessible to everyone through smart lockers. Visitors had the chance to try out the lockers and materials on the spot and chat with the developers. Guaranteed movement and fun!
Looking back on the Comon 'Moving Enjoyable' project
After two years of dedicated work, we proudly presented the results of our Comon 'Moving Enjoyable' project: RevOnc and UrbanCubby. These two technological solutions were developed during Comon’s Microlabs — spaces where teams shape and test innovative ideas using design thinking, fast prototyping, and user testing. The Experiment café was not only the first opportunity to discover these solutions, but also the closing event of this journey. With this event, we wanted to thank everyone who contributed — by exploring challenges, thinking along on solutions, and sharing their expertise or personal experiences. Together, we’ve worked toward a city where movement becomes more fun and accessible for everyone.
During a short interview, three experts reflected on the journey. They shared what stuck with them, spoke about the impact, and explored the question of what ‘moving enjoyable’ really means. Tom Van Nieuwenhove, innovation manager at the City of Ghent, highlighted the power of collaboration: "There’s real energy to work together around this theme — precisely because Comon brings people together: researchers, policymakers, entrepreneurs, library staff..."
Tom Van Damme from Durf Ondernemen took it a step further, comparing Comon to a binding ingredient: "Comon is like cornstarch: it brings together people and organisations that might never have met otherwise. It’s a place where ideas stick, even if they come from completely different corners. At the same time, Comon isn’t afraid to hold up a mirror to itself — to learn and grow. Personally, I’d love to see it get even more rock-’n-roll: more experimenting, daring to fail, and just trying something new again." Their insights highlight the value of a place like Comon, where experimentation and connection go hand in hand.
